Top 10 Classic Tabletop Games

Winter is coming… what better time of the year to gather with family or friends and play video games or tabletop games. In this blog we haven’t talked about the second type of games yet, so let’s start today.

When video games became popular, there was this question: what about tabletop games? It is incredible to see how old games are more popular than ever, they keep being best-sellers even if the market is expanding. These games are quick to play in a way that most people already know the rule and you don’t have to build long strategies. Here 10 samples of classic titles that we always want to play:

10 Trivial Pursuit – Hard one… Rules are simple but answering correctly to all the questions is not that easy!

9 Battleship – Luck or strategy? Anticipating your opponent’s actions is the key to win.

8 Life – Rewrite your life story for one hour (only).

7 Guess who? – Not that easy to figure out who the opponent is describing when you have 48 characters in front of you…

6 Pictionary – make your friends and family guess words by drawing, we hope you can draw good sketches quickly!

5 Snakes and ladders – all the family can participate, you just must be the luckiest and the quickest to arrive first at the top.

4 Risk – Enter the battlefield and try to win. Careful, think twice before making a decision…

3 Cluedo – the “scariest” game of the selection! Will you find the killer?

2 Scrabble – Mostly played by parents and grandparents. Two ways to play: either you just try to find words, or you search for the best combinations to win more points on the board

1 Monopoly – THE best-seller. So many versions exist that you always can offer a new one to a friend. While playing, try not to create any tensions: money can drive people crazy…

Settlers of Catan, 7 Wonders, Ticket to ride… all these games represent a second generation of classics from the 21st century’s first decade. They grew discreetly on the entertainment market but still, we can find them in shops with several extensions.

It was a transitional period that led to the production of many games where strategy and illustration take a significant position. We will talk about those in another post. Video games really didn’t kill tabletop games, artists got more creative involvement after all ;)
